Dr. Benjamin Hankamer |
Associate Professor, Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland Dr. Hankamer is pursuing a number of collaborative ventures with researchers and institutions in the USA. Two papers are now in the early planning stage. He has also been invited to one conference as a result of his fellowship. |

Jenny McAllister |
Director, Climate Change, Air and Noise, New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change Ms. McAllister will seek to enhance relationships between Australian climate change policymakers and their international counterparts, including establishing programs to evaluate and disseminate New South Wales’ best practices and bringing expert speakers to visit Australia. She also hopes to establish multi-stakeholder groups to support commercialization of renewable technologies, and to better integrate policy and research on biosequestration. |

Erik Breyer |
Chief Financial Officer, Neoenergia S.A. Mr. Breyer initiated a partnership between the International Finance Corporation and Neoenergia S.A., with a follow-up meeting scheduled for late November in Brazil. He will also launch more structured discussions within Neoenergia S.A. on the environmental effects of the company’s activities and strategies for dealing with these effects. |

Dr. Glaucia Souza |
Associate Professor, Institute of Chemistry and Coordinator, FAPESP Bioenergy Program, Instituto de Química, University of Sao Paulo Dr. Souza will organize an International Conference on Bioenergy in 2011 involving presenters in many fields, some of whom will be Eisenhower Fellows. The conference, to be held in Brazil, will include sections on biomass research, ethanol technologies, microalgae fuel, synthetic biology, renewable energy policy, sustainability, land use changes, and market and commercialization. |

Huang Qing |
Secretary to the Board of Directors, China Shenhua Energy Company Limited Mr. Huang will explore establishment of joint research endeavors, focused on cleaner utilization of coal, between China Shenhua Energy Company Ltd. and the McDonnell Academy Global Energy and Environmental Partnership at Washington University in St. Louis. |

ZHU Yuezhong |
Director of Research Management and International Collaborative Division, Energy Research Institute (ERI) of National Development and Reform Commission Mr. Zhu will promote ERI policy research on coal and renewable energy with institutions based in the USA; coordinate an energy modeling workshop involving participants from Harvard University and Stanford University; and work to strengthen the cost-benefit analysis of China’s Low-Carbon Energy Scenarios Study. |

Cherine Samir El-Sayed |
Projects Officer, International Finance Corporation Ms. El-Sayed will pursue the potential establishment of a MENA fund, in partnership with Green Microfinance, to promote sustainable clean energy access in the region. She will also explore the possibility of partnering with MicroEnergy Credits to create a business specialized in promoting micro loans in the MENA region. |

Scientific Director, Veolia Environment Dr. Morvan intends to pursue potential collaborative ventures related to sustainable cities with numerous institutions, including Columbia, Harvard, and Arizona State Universities; the World Bank; American Architectural Foundation; Global Footprint Network; Microsoft; and the Cities of San Francisco, San Jose, Chicago, Burlington. |

Dr. Thierry Pussieux |
Advisor to the High-Commissioner to Atomic Energy, Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Pussieux will initiate discussions regarding potential joint ventures with DOE national laboratories to collaborate on a Gen IV prototype reactor and R&D programs for production of radioisotopes for medical use. He will also explore training and exchange opportunities for French PhD students and post-doctorates with MIT. |

Kapil Mohan |
Director, Distribution, Electricity Sector, Ministry of Power Mr. Mohan will develop partnerships with educational institutions, research institutes, industry groups, federal agencies and technology providers in India and the USA. These partnerships will be built to promote areas of mutual interest in the energy sector in general, and the use of information and communication technologies in electricity distribution in particular. He also plans to explore the possibility of organizing visits of Indian distribution utility leaders to utilities in the USA that are leaders in the development of smart grids. |

Fabby Tumiwa |
Director, Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) Mr. Tumiwa will assess the feasibility of establishing an Association of Study of Peak Oil (ASPO) Indonesia with the assistance of ASPO USA. He will also share information about Makani Wind technologies with Indonesia’s state-owned utility PLN, and develop a proposal for a partnership between Makani and PLN to use Makani wind technologies for electricity generation in remote areas as an alternative to diesel generators. He will establish further cooperation with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) to develop an alternative electricity planning model to support distributed generation. Lastly, Mr. Tumiwa plans to write a book on renewable energy policies technologies based on lessons learned in the USA. |

Dr. Ayobami Salami |
Director, Institute of Ecology & Environmental Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University In Maine, Dr. Salami initiated a process to develop an exchange program between Nigeria’s Obafemi Awolowo University and some land-grant universities in the USA with the assistance of Marge Kilkelly (USA 2000), Deputy Director, Eastern Regional Conference/Council of State Governments and Director, Northeast States Association for Agricultural Stewardship. Dr. Salami will also co-write a book with Dr. Osita Afoaku, professor, Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. The book will focus on the challenges of sustainable development in Africa and will be published by the Edwin Mellen Press, New York. |

Oganes Targulyan |
Project Director, R&D Centre, ScanEx Mr. Targulyan will initiate a joint project with the University of Maryland to develop satellite monitoring of Africa’s Congo Basin forest using a ScanEx ground receiving station, and will pursue organizing satellite data resource centers for educational use based on ScanEx ground receiving stations, in collaboration with SPOT Image Corporation. Additionally, he will explore the potential of arranging for Russian lawyers to meet their American counterparts to learn about American space law development, and establish a joint project with the USGS Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS). |

Firat Cecen |
Chairman of the Board, AES-IC Energy Generation and Trade Inc. Mr. Cecen will develop his energy investments in renewable areas including wind, solar, and hydro energies and will contribute to a privatization program of energy assets in Turkey. He will also work to create a research and development center that will focus on the latest developments and technologies in the power sector. |

Kevin Gunn |
Mr. Gunn will facilitate the large scale distribution of compact fluorescent light bulbs in Missouri, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. He also gave presentations to the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissions (NARUC) Climate Change Task Force on biologic carbon capture and sequestration and NARUC’s Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment on the Magnetic Island Solar Cities project. |

Michael Moehn |
Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning and Business Risk Management, Ameren Corporation Mr. Moehn will continue active participation in the Washington University Clean Coal Consortium (5-year, $2 million commitment). Ameren was a charter member, and his department has recently been appointed the Ameren representative for this initiative. He will also join the St. Louis Green Business Challenge as a charter member. The objectives are to lead the St. Louis region toward a “Green Belt” economy that fosters green savings, green opportunities and green talent. |

John Nutting |
Mr. Nutting will advise agricultural businesses and associations in Maine and New England about business and partnership opportunities with agricultural and development interests in India. He will also develop relationships he has created with rural development NGO’s in India to create a charitable giving program with USA-based agricultural interests, including dairy and organic production. Additionally, Mr. Nutting will work with agricultural groups in Maine and the northeast in order to integrate climate change-related programs and advocacy in fighting for sustainable agriculture in the Northeast. |

Additional Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Police …will give lectures on best practices in policing, police training, counterterrorism, and emergency response systems to his professional counterparts. Will engage with U.S. police academies and forces to assist with development of trainings for senior police officials in Bangladesh’s Police Staff College. Will apply information gained on fellowship to his contributions to upcoming reforms to modernize Bangladesh’s Police Act of 1861. |

Artistic Director, Royal Flemish Theater (KVS) …will establish and expand collaborative artistic ventures with artists Bill Viola and Esa Pekka Salonen, and is currently coordinating a schedule of performances of Peter Sellars’ work at KVS scheduled for 2010 and 2011. Is also exploring the possibility of touring KVS productions to RedCAT in LA, Yerba Buena in San Francisco, the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Chicago, ad PS-122 and BAM in New York City. |

Senior Advisor and Founder, Evenstar Advisor Limited …will begin a series of internal training programs at EasyCard Corporation focusing on leadership development based on sessions he attended during the Eisenhower Fellowship opening seminar. Believes these sessions will help to galvanize his executives and encourage them to think more deeply about managerial issues, as well as improve internal communications within the corporation. |

Representative of the President of the Republic, National Television Commission …using information gained on fellowship, will consult with and advise telecommunications companies in Colombia and the Andean region. Will also aid in development of digital content for mobile television, and meet with the Minister of Communications in Colombia to discuss her fellowship findings. |

Limited …will create a business plan development competition between universities in the Czech Republic based on models he observed at Wharton School of Business and Drexel University. Will also pursue opportunities for Czech companies to gain access to U.S. markets and create a “Venture Mentoring Board” consisting of successful, experienced entrepreneurs interested in mentoring and coaching newer entrepreneurs. |

Chair, Secretariat of International Relations, Democratic Front Party …will continue working with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Center for International Private Enterprise, which have offered to assist him in establishing a liberal think tank in Egypt. Is also leveraging his fellowship learnings to generate new ideas about fundraising and strategic planning for his political party in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections. |

Chief of Engagement and Combat Section, Planning Department, French Air Force …will share information on joint warfighting approaches, hybrid warfare, and irregular warfare with the U.S. Joint Forces Command and maintain productive contact with RAND Corporation’s Project Air Force. Will also continue interactions with Harvard’s Belfer Center on international and domestic security issues, and share best business practices and approaches to terrorism issues with GWU’s Homeland Security Policy Institute, the Aspen Institute’s Homeland Security program, and Business Executives for National Security. |

Will also work with ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, an international association of local governments, as well as national and regional governmental organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development, to establish an ICLEI office in Budapest. |

Will also beta test a new online EMS provider training course developed by Dr. Brian Bledsoe, and will host a visit to India by representatives of the National Emergency Number Association. |

Executive Director, IBEKA (People Centered Business and Economic Institute) …has already hosted a student from Stanford University conducting research on rice-generated electricity and a representative from ICast Colorado researching wind turbines. Will coordinate a visit for officials from the Asia Foundation interested in learning how IBEKA provides electricity to rural areas and the positive implications for rural economic development efforts. Will collaborate with Stanford University on a program of Engineering for Extreme Affordability to be implemented in rural Indonesia; with the Colorado School of Mines on a potential extension of their Engineering for Sustainable Community Development program to Indonesia; and with the Colorado-based International Development Enterprise to develop agriculture projects in rural Indonesia. |

On behalf of CEPA, will collaborate with Harvard Business School and Stanford University’s Program on Energy and Sustainable Development to produce case studies, country policy overview papers, and detailed analyses of the implications of various economic policies. |

Wattan TV will produce daily reports from Palestine to be broadcast on Thirteen TV’s World Focus program. In discussions about the possibility of establishing an internship program at Wattan TV for students in media at the following universities: Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, and Drexel. |

Governor, Local Government of Sarangani Province …will work with Development Alternatives, Inc., a DC-based firm which will provide technical assistance for the first privately funded carbon sink project in the Philippines, involving 10,000 acres of land funded by a private power firm and the provincial government of Sarangani. If model is successful it may become a standard for carbon sink to offset carbon emissions, and will result in poverty alleviation for upland native communities in the province of Sarangani. |

Advisor to the Board, International Advertising Association …will publish a series of articles about his experience in the U.S. as an Eisenhower Fellow in the main financial journal of Romania, Ziarul Financiar, addressing his fellowship topics of national branding, economic crises, and social observation. He will also propose IAA Romania the establishment of a program of courses and an accreditation system similar to that of the U.S. Public Relations Association. |

Director, Center for Anti-Corruption, Transparency International – Russia …will develop legislative proposals to be submitted to the State Duma to strengthen the format, mandate and status of electoral and anti-corruption bodies in Russia. Will write a paper outlining Russia’s anti-corruption agenda, which she will present at several international venues including Harvard University’s Davis Center in fall 2009. Will develop and implement an internship and volunteer exchange program with several American watchdog organizations, including Judicial Watch, and implement a project on investigative journalism with the Open Society Institute. |

Publisher & Founder, Genuine Magazine and Intuthuko Newspaper …will initiate an internship program for students from local universities beginning in August at Genuine Magazine and Intuthuko Newspaper, and will use journalism training modules provided by the Editor of Chi-Town Daily to enhance the journalism skills of her staff. Also plans to set up a resource center in her rural area where students and community can come to study and read newspapers that will be donated and shipped to South Africa by O Magazine. |

Editor in Chief, Fokus Magazine …will organize a conference on Internet and Politics in Sweden in fall 2009 as part of a strategy to find new ways to capitalize on the Fokus brand. She will also remain in discussions with organizations she visited that expressed interest in Fokus, such as the Daily Beast (an online political magazine) about potential future cooperative ventures. |

Deputy Secretary-General, Office of the Judiciary …will create a judicial clerkship program to provide assistance to Thai judges in researching issues before the court and in writing opinions and decisions. Will establish an independent law enforcement agency of the Thai courts to protect judges, court officers, and property and to ensure effective operations of the judicial system. Finally, plans to initiate an electronic court project with a goal of creating a completely paperless court system in Thailand. |

Traveled to Saudi Arabia …will become involved in business council associations which will help foster stronger relationships and economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Turkey and Missouri. He will continue collaborations already underway between a leading Saudi Arabian university and a similar institution in his sponsoring region of St. Louis, and has guided his company to make direct investment in Saudi Arabia and sponsor an EF forum in Southeast Asia. |
